Lincoln Townley
(Born December 27, 1972, London, United Kingdom)
Lincoln Townley is a self-taught painter who explores the darker side of the human psyche through abstract portraiture of iconic personalities. Before turning to art as a full-time career in his 40s, Townley worked as a celebrity publicist and PR manager.
He collaborated with the Royal Academy in 2015 and 2016 and gained international recognition for being entrusted to paint some of the world’s most prominent icons. He was commissioned by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) in Los Angeles to create portraits of celebrities during the same period.
In 2017, his portrait of boxing legend Muhammad Ali sold for an impressive $623,000.
