About author - Patrik Hábl

Meet the author

Patrick's artwork is close to expressive abstraction. The permanent and deepest starting point of his work is the landscape treated as the inner space of the human mind. The work of Patrik Hábl is characterized by a systematic examination of the properties of colored material and the possibilities of its non-traditional processing in order to use both for the individual realization of the artistic intention. It is a pity that more than in its definitive speeches, it is known to the general public in the form of action performances by the artist or short-term interventions in public space. Patrik Hábl is a painter who, out of inner necessity, transcends established forms, tried and tested methods and all external limitations of painting. He overcomes the occasional temptation of excessive ease by returning to exploring the original essence of painting and searching for new ways of painting, inspired by the newly discovered properties of the material and innovative approaches to its processing. His current creative period is also characterized by courage and energy, with which he crosses the boundaries of the traditional hanging painting and expands into space with painting.

Painter Patrik Hábl is currently a very popular author. Both gallerists and domestic or foreign collectors. The proof was his auction record, which he recently achieved by selling his painting (100x100cm) called "Black and White Landscape" in the most prestigious British auction hall Christie’s (for 16,250 pounds, ie about 497 thousand CZK).

Patrik Hábl is one of the most sought-after authors and is represented both in state galleries and in private collections at home and abroad. He is one of the most visible representatives of his generation. He has had more than 80 solo exhibitions around the world, including exhibitions in Milan, Kyoto, Graz and Munich.
His work has also been included in the Fourth and Sixth Beijing International Biennial and has exhibited at group exhibitions in Paris, New York, Istanbul and Zurich.
He is the holder of the Waldes Prize, the Europol Art Award and the Graphics Award of 2020. He is also represented in the J&T art index, which helps collectors where and how to invest in art.
